INDUSTRIAL ARCHEOLOGY
ATRIL TABLE
Some may still remember those unique tables that presided over yesteryear workshops as true command bridges from where all production was controlled under the careful baton of the master craftsman.
Made of natural wood, without sophisticated finishes, they were generally equipped with a generous folding lectern where plans, models, prototypes, hand-made notes, and a whole fauna of useful objects were piled up only recognized by experts.
All the table accessories (hardware, lamps, etc.) were made of brass and aged in a natural way, acquiring a beautiful tone, still difficult to imitate today. For all this, they had an essential ally – a metric brass ruler generally embedded in the said table where they constantly checked the size of the pieces.
A gooseneck lamp with an anti-glare screen held with clips, which allowed you to place it in the most suitable place for every occasion, and as a final finish, 2 or 3 small drawers added a plus of more recognizable functionality to the object.
The designer Jaime Tresserra with a delicate work of synthesis so characteristic of his style, has recreated the essence of said object, returning it in this way to our time. And thus pay a sincere tribute to those artisans, fortunately not yet completely disappeared, in the era of electronics and robotization.
